We have a small kennel and raise our puppies under foot. Our dogs are a extension to our family and live in the house with the rest of the family, most sleep in bed with us. It is our belief that this provides for a better foundation in their socialization skills. We guarantee that your puppy will be pre-spoiled, and best of all at no extra charge. My wife and I are not professional breeders. After 21 years of U.S. military service I retired and my wife and I took up breeding and showing collies and then I branched off a few years ago and started "Dashing Dackel's Kennel, breeding and showing miniature dachshunds. My wife and I do this as a hobby but we are very dedicated to ensuring that our breeding program is in the highest traditions of the standards as set forth by the American and German Kennel Club. We are located about 12 kilometers from Wuerzburg, Germany in a small town named Giebelstadt. Giebelstadt is a small farming community, our house and property is surrounded by a very old limestone rock wall which dates back to the late 1700’s. We also have a 16th Century Castle adjacent to our home named the Zobel Schloss and the Graf von Giebelstadt still resides in this big castle.
Our goal is two fold. First to raise the finest companion dogs and secondly adhering to the breed standard of the miniature dachshund we strictly adhere to the standards as regulated by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Interessengemeinschaft Hundewesen (IGH). We strive in keeping the spirit and personality of the sporting dog in the miniature dachshund. The natural loyalty of the miniature dachshund towards it's owner is as much apart of that spirit. We handle them with love from the minute they are born until handed over into someone else's care and, and we regularly put our dachshunds into the show ring.
We provide our puppies only to those who show and demonstrate the willingness to make the life-long commitment of providing a good and safe home for their puppy. A Dachshund can live twelve years or more. So the decision can not be made lightly and should be carefully thought out as your decision is one decision is for a life long commitment. We do interview potential owners but even then circumstances beyond the control of the new owners do happen and they no longer can keep the puppy/dog. We do have in our standard contract that should any thing change that prevents you to provide that puppy/dog a good home, then you only have to contact us and we will exercise our right to have the puppy returned to us with compensation provided to the family. We in-turn will locate another home for dog. We make great strides to keep in touch with the owners so we can track their development as they grow older.
My wife and I take great pride in our kennel and of course our dogs. Not all people who come to pick a puppy go away with one as we do interview the potential owners and their family. We want to make sure that every step has been taken to ensure that the puppy will have a nice and happy home. "Our babies come first"
